If I throw a water balloon at my dad from a building that is 40 feet high and a downward velocity of 10 ft/sec and if I miss how long will it take the water balloon to almost hit my dad?

h=-16t2+vt+s

0=-16t2-10t+40

a= -16

b= -10

c= 40

x= -b±√b2-4ac

              2a

X= +10±√-102-4(-16)(40)

                     2(-16)

X= +10±√100+2,560

                     -32

X= +10± 51.58

              -32

X= +10+ 51.58   x = -1.92 sec

              -32

X= +10- 51.58    x = 1.29 sec
